Tips for Video Optimization

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

“How to do Video Optimization?” was a really big question for SEO Consultants when YouTube and other video gears introduced PPC Plug-ins in their Steam Players. Video Optimization got really hot once search engines started including results from Tubes and Images along with the organic text results. I observed many SEO Consultants doing SEO for Videos on a different pattern as for simple websites. But few things I would like to discuss here are; first of all the strategy of Search Engines for Ranking Videos is slightly different from the strategies for ranking websites. Secondly, if you think that by just posting your video URL on different websites, forums, blogs can help you in ranking your video, I am afraid you are wrong because On-Video/On-Site Optimization is as important as Off-Video/Off-Site optimization.

Tips for On-Video/On-Site Optimization:

  1. Make the Title sounds Interesting
  2. Include Keywords in your Title
  3. Title of Video should be relevant to the Video Content
  4. Video Description should be brief and should explains everything
  5. Tag your Videos with the relevant Keywords
  6. Choose the most relevant Category

There are many things you can’t control but you can make your work better to get them done themselves. For Example

  1. Comments on your Video can help you a lot in SEO
  2. Video Responses
  3. Video Rating
  4. Number of Views

Tips for Off-Video/Off-Site Optimization:

  1. Post your video to multiple Video Sites with the same Title and Description
  2. Increase number of Inbound Links
  3. Do off-page optimization as your Video URL is your webpage
  4. Increase Number of Embeds

Building Strong Internal Links

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

Building external links is one the most important things SEO Consultants do to get their clients the top rankings. These links play an important role in ranking a website, but it is also important to look at the internal links. Internal Links help SEO immensely but the most of SEO Consultants focus on external link building and overlook some internal parts of website those can further help in Optimization.

The whole SEO Process is backed by the website itself. So you really should be taking good care of your internal links before working on external ones. The great thing about internal links is that they are coming from an authoritative website and they actually teach search engine spiders what is on all your WebPages.  So it is also important for you to build the content on your website by using keywords you are targeting throughout it.  And it is really useless to have 50 WebPages if they are not linked and Search Engines are unable to find them.

It tends to get better rankings if your website has been on the internet for a good amount of time because it has a history of internal and external links that search engine uses to determine the actual rankings. When you increase the PR of internal pages its affects the overall ranking of your website. It is very important to understand that the Search Engine can’t read images. Search Engine actually reads your Alt Tags and File Name to identify what that image is about. So make sure your image titles and alt tags are relevant to the link the image is representing.

Tips to Improve Internal Links:

  1. Use a sitemap
  2. Create an FAQ page and link your answers to the relevant pages
  3. Link the keywords used on your site to the relevant WebPages internally
  4. Put Navigation links even on 404 Pages
  5. You can use image to link other WebPages but don’t forget to include “Alt Tags” and the File Name should be relevant to link. Let say if the webpage you are linking to is about SEO Consulting Services then Image Name should be “seoconsultingservices.jpeg”

Get Inbound Links from Social Media

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

You might have heard about the Pareto principle (also known as the 80-20 rule), states that, for many events, roughly 80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes. Many SEO Consultants just ignore Social Media Networking as it is just 20% of whole SEO Process. But they don’t understand that now days this 20% is playing an important role for getting 80% of inbound links. You can’t ignore the social aspect of SEO any longer because these days the Social Media is the most important for getting inbound links. Many entrepreneurs are adopting social media marketing to make long lasting impact on users and build successful business as this is the best source of receiving customer feedbacks.

Tips for Building a Strong Social Network:

  1. Build a Strong Network with blogs in your niche by providing them valuable content
  2. Submit your best articles to Relevant Blogs
  3. Post some blog comments and link your comment with any relevant article on your site.
  4. You can even offer some incentives to the blogger to get you a back link or in return you can give them back links from your site.
  5. Join good Social Media Communities because there is a better chance of finding new readers of your articles.
  6. Create a Facebook fan page
  7. Get Followers on Twitter
  8. Start some good activities on Google Buzz and get followers as many as you can
  9. Focus on big social bookmarking sites like Digg, StumbleUpon, and Delicious
  10. Share your Research and Articles on sites like SlideShare, Scribd, DocStoc, and Issuu and include a link back to your site
  11. Record Videos and upload them on different Video Sites like YouTube or Google Video.
  12. Last but the most important TIP: write for people, not for search engines.
