Choosing Keywords

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

Keyword Research is the backbone of Search Engine Optimization but many business people have no idea what keyword research is and how to get appropriate keywords for a website. Keywords and Search Results are just like the conversation between a customer and a shopkeeper. If the customer asks for “Motor Oil”, shopkeeper gives him the motor oil. Now the keywords used on your website can detrack Search Engines to find out your website for the desired keywords and poor Keyword Research ultimately leads to losses and bad rankings on search engines. Before you start Keyword Research put yourself in customer’s shoe and see what actually they search for when they come online to search for the products you have. Search Engine actually checks the relevance of the keywords entered on the search engine with the material available on your website. There are many simple tools available on the Internet for “Keyword Research” but how to get the best keywords for a website is not in everyone hand.

How to Find Relevant Keywords?

Many Clients ask me this question when I tell them how “bad keywords” can take them to the losses and I always say that the best keyword is, that actually represents your website. If you are selling organic dog food then your keywords should be “Dog Food” or “Organic Dog Food”. And also these keywords should exist on your web page.

Significance of the Keywords:

This is the step where most the people fall because this is a tricky step and requires a lot of analysis. Google have provided many tools to check the significance of the keywords selected for Marketing a particular website e.g. “Google Adword Tool” provides the facility of finding the relevant keywords and the average search volume per month. They keyword you are going to choose must have atleast 50 hits a day.

Once you have learned the basic keyword research completely you will be able to find out the more profitable keywords for your website.

Pay per Click (PPC) Strategies

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

Pay per Click (PPC) is a great and very cost effective source of advertising to promote your website to your intended market successfully. Publishers or Advertisers can specify some channels and keywords to obtain the relevant ads for their website. Many companies now prefer PPC over other advertising methods because of the feasibility of the features those help in targeting the exact target market. PPC providers offer many controls to determine your valued visitors and to control your ad campaign. PPC providers actually deliver you the real value of your money. The main objective of PPC is not to get the just traffic but the conversion of visitors into successful sales.

There are some tips you can follow to best build your advertising campaign.

Step 1:
Select Relevant Keywords (Niche – Relevant)
In order to implement the best PPC advertising, first of all you have to determine the best keywords your target market uses to find you on Google or any Search Engine. This will help you not to catch the maximum traffic but the valued traffic that would be intended to buy your product.

Step 2:
Be Specific
Your Ad-Title should be straight to the point and must contain the desired keywords. PPC providers actually check the significance of the searched keyword with the relevance of the keywords you used in your ad title and description. To create an effective ad you must be specific to the point of advertising because the core purpose of PPC is not to get the traffic but the valued customers.
Step 3:
Landing Page
Landing page, where your ad redirects to, should be attractive and must outline all the features of the product and price. This is the most often ignored part because advertisers usually focus on getting the traffic to the website and ignore the core purpose of PPC advertising. Landing Page should like a complete ad; bill-board or hoarding.

Step 4:
Evaluation
Evaluation is the most important part of designing a successful PPC campaign. This step involves the auditing of all keywords involved in the whole campaign and their productivity. Evaluation helps in reducing our total advertising expenses.

Bing Search Engine Optimization

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

Microsoft launched their new search engine “Bing” few months back with the aim of becoming the world best Search Engine ever. Discussions, debates and reviews represent a good future of Bing. Although it is still very early to talk about Bing disposing the two big Search Engines like Google and Yahoo. A part of the discussion “who is going to be the best search engine”, it is quite obvious that Bing is going to capture a bigger market share as compared to the previous version “MSN Live”. So it is important to know the techniques Bing follows in optimizing a website since it has become a part of search engine market.
Being an SEO Consultant, techniques I suggest for Bing are as followed:

1.    Name your web pages relevant to the topic your website page talk about (e.g. if your web page is talking about Credit Solutions then name the webpage as credit-solution.html; separating the keywords with hyphens)
2.    Make sure that the Title of your webpage represents the content your page contains because web Title is the first thing Bing Reads
3.    Create your website’s birth time by registering or buying an older domain name because Bing and other search engines prior the older domain name a bit higher.
4.    Create unique website contents, post articles on your website and if you don’t have articles then add a blog to your site and update it regularly.
5.    Your site URL should be simple and static because it is difficult to index frequently changing URLs.
6.    Do off-page optimization of your website by Building Links on high ranked websites
